This was a quick little mini-unit that we enjoyed over a weekend. Raphael read the book to the boys and then they got right to work drawing away…
We let them use whatever crayon colors they wanted (not just purple) and encouraged them to draw whatever they wanted.
(A garden…love it!)
Eventually they got bored and started scribbling all over the paper, so we wrapped it up.
My favorite activity of this unit was an idea I got from the Domestic Serenity site (link below). I printed up and laminated some phases of the moon cards (link also below).
I then copied the eight different phases onto white paper with white crayon. Each boy got a “mystery moon” page with the moons in a different order. We then instructed them to paint over each square, one at a time, and match the mystery moon to the correct phase card.
They had a blast doing this, and hopefully learned a little something in the process!
